We had an unconventional but enjoyable Thanksgiving. Our friends Catherine and Chris came to visit us from Asheville NC and spent the holiday with us. They arrived Wednesday night and we made dinner for them. Thanksgiving was a beautiful day here so we took them for a boat ride. They are bird lovers, so being that we are in a wildlife preserve we were able to put on a pretty good show for them, complete with bald eagles. We went for a little hike in an undeveloped bay nearby. Then Chris and Cath treated us to Thanksgiving Dinner at the Log Cabin Restaurant. We got lucky, the server thought they were out of the Thanksgiving meal when we first arrived, but they found enough for us. Whew!
Dave found a spare tire with tread on an unused van belonging to the marina so (with permission) he replaced the dangerously bald one on the courtesy car . He also fixed the wiring on the car so that it starts and runs continuously (it stopped running a few times while we were on the road), so we have been able to take an occasional day trip. We went to the New Johnsonville Park and visited Pebble Isle, another marina near by.
We went to Clarksville and visited a winery (we thought we’d be able to visit a museum and a mansion too, but the museum was closed and we couldn‘t find the mansion). We also went back to Nashville and visited the Parthenon (a replica of the one in Greece) that is the Nashville art gallery, drove part of Natchez Trace (the rural and scenic route back to the marina) and visited another winery.
