2-10 to 2-12 Crystal Bay to Anclote Key near Tarpon Springs FL.

We had a beautiful day to complete the crossing that we started a mere 5 weeks ago. The Gulf was calm and sparking with sunshine, it wasn’t too warm or too cold, and dolphins were everywhere for much of the trip. We spent the night anchored at Anclote Key, a barrier island near Tarpon springs.
The next day we ventured into the bay of Tarpon Springs to get fuel at a commercial gas dock with great prices that had been recommended to us by a cruiser we met in Mobile Bay. The man at the gas dock arranged dockage for us for a few hours with the neighboring boat yard so we spent a few hours checking out the town. I guess there is an occasional perk when you buy $1000 of fuel!

Tarpon Springs is a largely Greek community that takes great pride in it’s ethnic heritage. We took a tourist trolley around the town, had some Greek food and stretched our legs a bit.

We woke up Thursday morning to find ourselves completely fogged in. Nothing newsworthy in that, except the fog never cleared. We spent the entire day surrounded by fog so thick that we couldn’t see the island we were anchored in front of.
