This was probably my favorite day of boating so far. We had dolphins playing in our wake much of the day (though they are camara shy).
The weather was fine and the scenery was just so much more than I expected. In many ways it was similar to the rivers up north, but with more twists, turns, and changes in scenery. Plus it is warmer and sunnier here.
We thought it would be a relatively short day, but there were a lot of fisherman along the way and we slow down to a no-wake speed for all of them so we don’t rock the heck out of them with our wake (it is big even at our normal slow cruising speed).
We arrived at our anchoring spot just before dark and dropped the hook. This spot is quite a bit different for us. The water is shallow so we anchored pretty far from land. It felt more like dropping anchor in the middle of the ocean.
But it is not a windy night and even though land looks far away in the dark, we are in a protected spot. The sky is clear and starry, and we can hear the surf crashing on the island near by.
