Especially after last night, this was a looong day. We started around 6:30 am again and traveled until about 5:30, just before dark. The water is up a few feet here, which is giving us a nice 3 mph boost in speed. We met up with Geronimo in the lock, too. The lock normally has a drop of about 30 feet, but about 10 feet down the water stopped dropping. We wondered if there was a problem, but apparently because the water is so high we only had to descend a little way. This will be our last lock for quite a while. Things are definitely starting to get greener!
This is a railroad bridge that goes accross the river only about 4 feet above the water. You call them on the VHF radio and ask them to swing the bridge open for you. We are lucky we were with Brown Eyed Girl because we ever would have known what to do when we got to the bridge.
We anchored without incident and had a pretty peaceful night. The only bit of excitement was that we had reception for 3 TV channels!
