Much of the Tenn-Tom is man-made and the waterway looks more like a path through a park than a river.
We left Aqua around 7:30 am at the same time as the sailboat Geronimo and traveled through the locks with them for the day.
The James Whitten lock drops 84’, we are told that it is one of the tallest locks on the world. Talk about feeling small.
We thought we would anchor out that night, but at 4:00 it was going to be getting dark soon and we were right in front of a marina so we stopped at Midway for the night. There was an added incentive to stay because their pump out and water lines were working (the ones at Aqua had been winterized so we couldn’t take on water or empty the holding tank). Plus, and this is a BIG one, they had cable TV at the transient dock. The idea of being able to watch TV in bed again put a huge smile on Dave’s face! The weather is finally starting to warm up a bit, so I’m smiling too.
